Modeling The Effects of Climate Change on Food Production in Ivory Coast: Evidence from ARDL Approach

There is a direct link between global warming and hunger in emerging West African nations like Ivory Coast, where the population overgrowing, food insecurity rising. This work aims to examine explore climate change's effects on agriculture production Coast from 1990 2019. Various stationarity tests, including Phillips-Perron (PP) Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF), are applied determine variables' order of integration. The autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) approach employed model long- short-run relationships temperature, rainfall, carbon dioxide emissions, domestic credit, gross capital formation, sector subsectors. present study uses Johansen cointegration test verify long-run ARDL estimation. findings reveal that all variables integrated into zero or one. Cointegration tests demonstrate valid long-term association variables. Agriculture related subsectors were found benefit increasing temperature over long run, except for fishery subsector, impact negligible. In short temperature’s effect positive aggregate agriculture, although it not statistically significant. Its beneficial agriculture's subsectors, production. both runs, Coast’s subsector negatively affected by rainfall.
